I found below equation in an article about filmmaker Temujin Doran who in his documentary “Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives” explored how many hours, days and years we spend on mundane activities in an average life span.
It inspired me to examine what I do in my day and what I really want to do because it makes me feel alive. Here are two of my favorites:
Breathe – and enjoy my mom’s beloved Spring flower🌷
Smile – especially inspired by Sarina’s💗
Look at a few highlights of what was mentioned in the movie:
2 years of boredom
67 days of heartbreak
14 minutes of pure joy
2 months driving the street in front of your house
7 months having sex
6 days clipping nails
15 months looking for lost items
18 months waiting in line
2 weeks wondering what happens if you die
1 hour realizing you’ve forgotten someone’s name
9 days pretending you know what is being talked about
3 weeks realizing you are wrong
30 years sleeping without opening your eyes
2 days lying
6 weeks waiting for a green light
Amazing isn’t it?
Let me inspire you a bit more, add yoga, it belongs to my personal top ten:
60 minutes of Yoga/day… Tiny Islands included…
I hope you jump on board with me and find a few of your “joy makers” to vibe high. The everyday stuff will happen anyway.😇
And as Annie Dillard said:
“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives,”
is an excellent start to examine…
How do we really spend our days?
